1. Agreement to Terms

By using Ridgewood Tax services ("Services"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services.

These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you ("Client," "you," or "your") and Ridgewood Tax, operated under Excinis Bookkeeping ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Services Provided

Ridgewood Tax provides personal income tax preparation and filing services for Quebec residents, including:

Preparation of federal income tax returns (T1)
Preparation of Quebec provincial income tax returns (TP1)
Electronic filing (EFILE/NetFile) with CRA and Revenu Québec
GST/HST and QST returns for annual filers (where applicable)

All tax returns are prepared by Giovanni at Excinis Bookkeeping, a licensed Quebec tax preparation firm.

3. Service Options

3.1 Fast Track

You sign the engagement letter and pay upfront. We prepare your return and file it automatically when complete. You receive a 5% discount on your total price.

3.2 Review First

We prepare your return and send you a basic summary for review. You approve and pay before we file. Standard pricing applies.

4. Pricing

Our pricing is transparent and calculated automatically based on your tax situation:

Base prices depend on your client type (student, employed, couple)
Add-ons apply for additional complexity (self-employment, rental income, investments, etc.)
Maximum automated price: $500
Situations exceeding $500 or requiring specialized handling receive a custom quote

Your exact price is calculated and displayed before you submit your information. By proceeding with payment, you agree to the quoted price.

5. Payment Terms

Payment is processed securely through Stripe
We accept major credit cards
Fast Track: Payment is due at time of submission
Review First: Payment is due upon approval of your return summary
Your return will not be filed until payment is received in full

6. Refund Policy

Change of mind (before work begins): Full refund
Situation more complex than indicated: We will contact you with a revised quote; you may accept or receive a full refund
Client unresponsive: If we cannot complete your return due to missing information after multiple attempts, you receive a full refund
After filing: No refunds are available once your return has been submitted to CRA/Revenu Québec

7. Turnaround Time

We aim to complete most returns within 72 hours of receiving your documents and payment. Fast Track clients receive priority processing.

This is an estimate, not a guarantee. During peak tax season, processing may take longer. We will notify you of any significant delays.

8. Client Responsibilities

You agree to:

Provide accurate information: All information you provide must be complete, accurate, and truthful
Provide all relevant documents: You must upload all tax slips and receipts necessary for your return
Respond promptly: If we request additional information, please respond within 7 days
Review for accuracy: You are responsible for reviewing your return summary (Review First) or final filing confirmation (Fast Track) for accuracy
Keep records: Retain your tax documents for at least 6 years in case of CRA audit

You acknowledge that you are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of your tax return. We prepare your return based on the information you provide.

9. Authorization to File

By using our Services, you authorize us to:

Prepare your federal and Quebec income tax returns
Electronically file your returns with CRA and Revenu Québec on your behalf
Act as your representative for the purpose of filing (T1013 authorization)

You will be asked to sign an engagement letter and T1013 authorization form via our secure signing portal before we file your return.

10. Limitations of Liability

We prepare your tax return with professional care based on the information you provide. However:

We are not responsible for errors resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you
We are not responsible for CRA or Revenu Québec processing delays or errors
We do not guarantee any specific refund amount or tax outcome
Our liability is limited to the fees paid for our Services

We are not your legal or financial advisor. For complex tax planning, legal matters, or investment advice, please consult appropriate professionals.

11. Amendments and Corrections

If you discover an error after filing or receive new tax documents:

Contact us as soon as possible
Amendment fee: $50 flat rate
Amendments due to errors on our part will be corrected at no charge

12. Scope Limitations

We do not provide services for the following situations (Year 1):

Corporate tax returns
Trust returns
Bankruptcy situations
Non-residents or partial-year residents
First year in Canada (immigration)
3 or more rental properties
Cryptocurrency with 200+ transactions
Foreign property exceeding $250,000 CAD
GST/HST quarterly or monthly filers

If your situation falls into one of these categories, we will inform you during the intake process and may refer you to another provider.

13. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

14. Intellectual Property

All content on the Ridgewood Tax website, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of Ridgewood Tax or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our Services shall be resolved in the courts of Quebec.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website. Your continued use of our Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
